Ransom Note from God

This version is still a rough sketch. I enjoy the rawness of it in places but not in others. For example, the title track has morphed a bit in the real world but frozen in time here.

I get a hint of a negative reaction when people hear the title “Ransom Note From God.”
I must admit I thought it was a bit irreverent when I came up with it but later, I ran across a passage in the Bible that mentions God’s ransom. Well if there was a ransom, there was probably a ransom note.
Either way, the title just made sense to me at the time I wrote the song. ....More

The Process
I approach my recordings like I would approach a painting. Sounds are layered one at a time. Some sounds are opaque and others are transparent. Don’t ask me how that works.
When you hear Voice, Banjo, Harmonica, or  Melodica, you are hearing me. Other instruments may be me or they may be someone else. I play drums on some tracks and use drum loops on others. Sometimes the guitar is me, other times it’s not.  Sometimes it’s me playing a real hi-hat, sometimes it’s me playing hi-hat on a keyboard (Computer keyboard, not piano keyboard). I am all over the board when it comes to producing a sound I’ve envisioned.
No matter what happens, I usually find myself playing something on each track that I really don’t know how to play.
