detach!

Flow

People will tell us;
"Don't be so damn jealous."
But it's so hard to toe that line.
The stuff others flaunt
is the stuff that I want
but it's never as good when it's mine.

Once, I was told
that the tighter you hold,
the harder it is to hold tight.
And by letting things go
you establish a flow
that allows everything to go right.

The advice was well heeded.
A flow's what I needed.
My old ways were not serving me.
The choices were clear.
Nowhere or now here.
It was time that I learned how to be.

If I take a minute or two
each day to review
just how much my hands can hold.
Detach, release,
and make room for some peace
amazing things start to unfold.

The only thing real
as we spin on this wheel
is the moment in which we now stand.
The past, we are taught
is only a thought
and the future is at our command.
